PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES OF THE UNIVERSITIES’ ACADEMIC TEACHING STAFF: SET PATTERNS AND NEED FOR CHANGES

Abstract

At the present time training and education element prevails over research and development component in the professional activities of higher-education teaching staff inthe Russian universities. This is the reason why the universities do not train graduates’ creative abilities that enable them to generate break through ideas. In order to escape the existing situation it’s necessary to expand the scope of scientific work at universities to the level comparable with the indicators of training and education. Thus it will be possible to involve all the faculty members into scientific research, to unlock their scientific and innovation potential that will lead to the change of stereotypes in faculty members’ professional activities and create a new educational process based on science.
