Education

In 1987 graduated from Moscow State Mining Institute (majoring in Mining Electrification and Automation).

1987–1990 – postgraduate studies at Moscow State Mining Institute.

Academic degrees and titles

1990 – Candidate of Sciences thesis “Ventilator Electric Drive Automated Control System for Underground Coal Combustion”.

2004 – Dr. Sc. thesis “Mining Equipment Electrical and Mechanical System Mathematical Modelling Based on Dynamic Characteristics Identification”.

Professional activities

Since 1991 he worked as assistant, senior teacher (1994), assistant professor (1995), and professor (2004) at Mining Enterprise Electrification department, Moscow State Mining University.

In  2004 he was appointed a Vice-Rector of Moscow State Mining University, Deputy Chairman of the Educational and Methodological Russian High School Union on education in the field of mining.

Since 2012, V. Petrov is member of the Expert Council at the Russian Accreditation Agency.

In 2014 Moscow State Mining University became part of the National University of Science and Technology MISIS.

Since 2014, he is Vice-Rector of Educational Affairs at the National University of Science and Technology  MISIS.

Member of the following journal editorial boards: Mining Journal, Alma Matter (Herald of High School), High School Bulletin. Mining Journal, Mining Information Analytical Bulletin, Higher Education in Russia.
