1976–1998 – Chairman of the University Board of young researchers, assistant lecturer of the University Department of Mathematical Analysis, Head of the University Research Department, Head of the Department of Differential Equations and Functional Analysis, Dean of the Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Rector of Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN).

- comparative educational policy of Russia and foreign countries;
- globalization and internationalization in higher education;
- internal internationalization of universities;
- management of higher professional education;
- management of modern research and entrepreneurial types of universities;
- issues of preserving common educational space of the CIS countries;
- challenges of implementing a multilevel system of higher education in the Russian Federation;
- modernization of the Russian system of certification of scientific and professional degrees considering global trends.
Author of more than 270 scientific and methodological publications including 32 monographs, two of which have been translated and republished in the USA by the American Mathematical Society.
