1965 – Cand. Sci. (Philosophy) thesis on the topic «Critique of contemporary bourgeois sociology of leisure» was defended.

1981 – Dr. Sci. (Philosophy) thesis on the topic «Lifestyle and activity in free time under socialism» was defended.

1967 – Academic title of the Associate Professor at the Department of Philosophy was conferred.

1984 – Academic title of the Professor at the Department of Philosophy was conferred.

Professional activities

1959–1963 – A History teacher in the schools in Ufa and Sverdlovsk.

1963–1975 – Assistant of Professor, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, Professor at the Department of Philosophy of Sverdlovsk Law Institute.

1975–1981 – Head of the Department of Sverdlovsk State Pedagogical Institute.

1981–2001 – Sverdlovsk Engineering and Pedagogical Institute (since 1993 – Ural Professional Pedagogical University), Professor, Head of the Department of sociology, Vice-rector for international relations, Director of the Institute of Sociology and Economics.

2002–2012 – Humanities University (Ekaterinburg), Professor, Head of the Department of sociology, Dean of the faculty of sociology.

First Vice-President of the Russian society of sociologists (since 2001).

Under the scientific supervision of G.E. Zborovsky 10 doctoral and 48 candidate dissertations were prepared and defended.

Research is supported by the Russian Science Foundation (RSF), the Russian Foundation for Fundamental Research (RFFR), The Russian Humanitarian Science Foundation (RHSF). He has published more than 600 works including more than 60 textbooks, manuals, monographs.

Awards, honorary titles

1993 – Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation.

2001 – winner of the competition of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation «Scientific contribution to education of Russia" for the book «Education: from XX to XXI century» and a series of articles on education.

2004 – prize named after I.G. Petrovsky (MSU) for a series of scientific and pedagogical works on the theory and history of sociology.

2008 – Silver medal named after Pitirim Sorokin for his contribution to the development of sociology.

2012 – Honored scientist of the Russian society of sociologists.

2016 – Best Professor of the Ural Federal University.
