Abstract

Abstract
The empirical basis of the paper is formed by the findings of the survey of the students ofone of the departments of Moscow State University conducted by the Institute for Complex Research in Education of the Lomonosov Moscow State University. Students’ perceptions of the teachers are analyzed with regard to the impact on them of the economic and symbolic factors of identity (within the frames of the graded model of the stages of perception). Possibility of the content interpretation of the students’ assessments of their teachers is suggested to theorganizers of the educational process as a part of the teaching quality monitoring.

The article focuses on the properties and characteristics of the educational process, which determine its ability to respond to the educational needs of specific customers. Satisfaction with the quality of educational services of the main consumers (applicants, students andemployers) is characterized. The key problems, decreasing customer satisfaction: omissionsin the career-guidance work; lack of opportunities in the choice of specialization and optional disciplines; weak provision with educational-methodical literature; poor quality of supply; lack of practical training have been identified.

A key theme of this article is the relation of the eminent Russian intellectuals: scientist (Grigory Tseretely), writer (Mikhail Prishvin), philosopher (Gustav Shpet) to educational reforms of 1920–1930s in Soviet Russia expressed in their letters and diary notes. The author considersthese records to be an invaluable existential experience which bears evidence of historical dependency of the modern state of intellectual culture and education system in Russia.
